Our Case studies

Action Sport Rentals - San Diego

Action Sport Rentals is a family owned San Diego based boat and Jet-Ski rental operator, that has been successfully run by Steve Pinard for over 22 years. It is one of the largest boat rental companies in San Diego, with seven different rental locations. Steve always put his customers, as well as his  co-workers, front and center – an approach that has been fundamental to his success in the boat rental industry.

Running an effective operation across seven different rental locations is not without challenges. But by using WAIV’s fleet management system, the entire team at Action Sport Rentals can stay in sync and stay on top of the entire operation. Knowing where all boats are, and which boats are about to return back is a great stress relief and makes the entire operation more streamlined and effective.

Action Sport Rentals is using WAIV to track their jet-skis/WaveRunners, sailboats, duffy boats, pontoons, and a number of different types of speed and power boats.

At WAIV we are very excited to work with Action Sport Rentals, and to provide them with the same high level of customer service as they are providing to their own customers.

Mission Bay Sport Center

Mission Bay Sport Center is one of the largest and most recognized boat & jet-ski rental operator in San Diego, with 3 locations and more than 200 pieces of equipment for rent.

WAIV supports MBSC in their daily operations. The WAIV GPS tracking system allows MBSC’s staff to accurately quote boat availability to awaiting customers, as well as determine the correct rental fee (which is different based on what geographical region the boat ventures into).

WAIV also support MBSC in dispute resolution when equipment gets damaged. Jet-Ski engines clogged with sand and sea-weed are oftentimes caused by renters that drive too close to the shore or to other areas where they are not supposed to go. Showing the renter the GPS tracks of their jet-ski outing is an effective tool to explain to them what caused the damage and what they need to pay attention to in the future, to avoid problems.  WAIV geofencing also provides MBSC staff with advance notice via text alerts, if a jet-ski ventures into “no-go” zones.
